These three songs were written as additions to the score for a brand new musical entitled STAR OF FREEDOM, which is a stage adaptation of my album EXODUS. The musical will open the 2022 season at the Ivoryton Playhouse and run through April with 24 performances. It is based on my album, but has 4 new songs (I'm not telling what the final one is) and a new script by Lawrence Thelen. The show will be directed by Jacqueline Hubbard. These two amazing artists have made my vision bigger and better than I ever could have on my own.
I enjoyed writing these songs because it allowed me to dig deeper into the cast of characters in this ensemble show. The song "Good Trouble" is written for a character inspired by John Lewis, and it was my honor to produce it and release it on our shared birthday! So many magical moments making this show, and I can't wait to see it come to life on stage in Essex this April. A huge thanks to my family and fans for the support for the last year and a half making this thing.
